Uniform
It is our policy that all children must have full school uniform, worn correctly, for daily attendance at school. It is expected that uniform will also be worn when pupils are representing the school, including school visits and sporting fixtures, whether or not these are in school hours.

The Role of Parents
We expect all parents who send their children to Danetree Primary School, to adhere to the schools uniform policy. Parents have a duty to send their children to school correctly dressed and ready for their daily schoolwork. Parents should ensure that their child has the correct uniform, and that it is clean and is well presented. The school welcomes children from all backgrounds and faith communities and if there are genuine reasons (for example religious objections, why parents want their child to wear clothes that differ from the school uniform) the school will look sympathetically at such requests. Similarly, should an item of school uniform prove problematic for a child with disabilities then parents are invited to draw this to the attention of the Headteacher. Any non-compliance with the schools uniform policy will result in a sanction as directed by the Headteacher.
Coats
Coats, when they need to be worn, should be of a plain colour and style compatible with school uniform and student safety. It is recommended that detachable luminous strips and/or arm bands are used by cyclists in the winter months. Reversible waterproof fleeces with the school logo are also available from PMG – these are optional. Hats of any type (e.g. balaclava-style hats, baseball hats) are not part of school uniform, neither are hoodies. In extreme weather children are permitted to wear appropriate clothing e.g. boots but will be expected to change once in school.
Aprons
In order to ensure that children’s school clothing is protected, we expect all children to bring in an apron or old shirt for art/painting activities.
Bags
All children will be required to have a Danetree school bag. This can either be a Danetree book bag or Danetree Rucksack and they can be purchased from PMG. No other school bags will be permitted in school.
Jewellery
On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school. The exceptions to this rule are earring studs in pierced ears and watches. We ask the children to remove these objects during PE and games. All children are expected to remove their earrings irrespective of whether they have been recently pierced. Parents should also be aware that temporary tattoos, nail varnish and make-up are not permitted in school.
Hair
All children, girls and boys, are requested to tie hair up with a plain hair band in keeping with the school colours (where it is long enough to do so). If wearing a head band these should be plain and in keeping with the school colours. We expect that hair should be neat and tidy and worn with no extremes of style or colour (e.g. tram-lines, mohicans, or use of hair colourants or dyes). If you are unsure please check prior to making any changes. Parents should also be aware that hair gel and hair colours are not permitted in school.
