Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The Early Years Foundation Stage is the statutory curriculum for children 0-5. (Nursery and Reception.) For us at Danetree, we have our 2-3 year old Caterpillars provision, our 3-4 year old Butterflies provision and our Reception cohort of 4-5 year olds.
Our curriculum inspires and stimulates children, encouraging them to develop into independent, motivated learners who are curious about the world around them. Fun and exciting opportunities allow them to experience joy and happiness to set them off on their learning journey.
Our children are nurtured within a safe and secure environment, whilst being able to play and explore, enquire and take risks with their learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
We are proud to be an inclusive school and our children, regardless of background, succeed. This is as a result of:
- focusing on developing the Prime areas of learning
- deliberate and conscious provision choices that meet interest and need
- skilled adult interactions which drive language and communication development
- learning underpinned by high quality and diverse texts coupled with strong phonics Read, Write, Inc teaching that foster a love for reading
In the academic year 2023/24, 76% children achieved a good level of development. (National GLD 67%)
Enabling children to apply the characteristics of learning allows for the building of foundational knowledge across the phase ensuring that children are ready for the next stage of their education in Year 1.
98% children moved up to Year 1 working at age related expectations in Phonics.
